The Great North Woods Committee for the Arts, which has brought over 140 shows to Colebrook over the past few years, announces an exciting lineup of shows for the month of May, bringing back some past favorites and new talent as well.
“Folk, country, choral, Celtic and Latin fusion, we’ve got it all in May,” said GNWCA President Charlie Jordan. All four shows will take place in the Tillotson Center in Colebrook at 7 p.m. and all tickets will be $15. The Camerata New England Piano Quartet, hosted by the Great North Woods Committee for the Arts, will perform a Spring concert in the Tillotson Center in Colebrook on Saturday, April 18, at 7 p.m. It’s an opportunity to hear some beautiful music on a North Country spring evening.
The story is set in the 1960s, and swinging bachelor Bernard (Tom Jordan) couldn’t be happier: he has a flat in Paris and three gorgeous stewardesses (played by Colleen Clogston, Nora Gair and Naomi Going) all engaged to him without knowing about each other. But Bernard’s perfect life gets bumpy when his friend Robert (John Quigley) comes to visit and a new and speedier Boeing jet throws off all of his careful planning. Soon all three stewardesses are in town simultaneously. Robert can hardly believe his eyes as he sees how Bernard and his maid Berthe (Catherine Carter) handle the fiancees flying in and out of the bachelor pad. The audience will want to fasten their seatbelts–if you haven’t heard yet–there’s certainly turbulence ahead. You won’t want to miss this hilarious story with a terrific stage set built by John Jolles and Steve Bunnell.
Advance tickets are on sale at Fiddleheads, 110 Main St., in Colebrook, as well as at the door before the shows. For more on this and other GNWCA sponsored shows, call 237-9302 or 246-8998 or visit www.gnwca.org.
The Carriage Lane Players will be presenting Marc Camoletti’s “Boeing-Boeing,” translated by Beverly Cross and Francis Evans by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. The Great North Woods Committee for the Arts will present direct from Ireland the highly rated, award-winning music group FullSet at the Tillotson Center in Colebrook on Tuesday, Feb. 17. The concert starts at 7 p.m.
Foot stompin’ traditional fiddle music will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 30, when the local group the Fireside Fiddlers and the feature band the Don Roy Ensemble from Maine take to the stage at the Tillotson Center in Colebrook. Hosted by the Great North Woods Committee for the Arts, this night of music takes place during the annual Colebrook Kiwanis Winter Carnival—which offers a full weekend of fun, outdoor winter events.
The Great North Woods Committee for the Arts will be hosting another of its popular coffee house concerts on Friday, Jan. 9, at 7 p.m., in the gallery at the Tillotson Center in Colebrook.
This performance will feature the husband and wife duo of Dana and Susan Robinson, who will bring their guitar and clawhammer banjo music featuring songs that speak for farmers, Appalachians, Native Americans, and the American prairies. The eighth annual TUBACHRISTMAS event will be held on Saturday, Dec. 20. This free public concert has become a beloved tradition in the Colebrook community. At Trinity United Methodist Church, the golden glow of the stained glass windows is the perfect setting for the glorious sounds of tubas, euphoniums and baritone horns.
