This year’s North Country Moose Festival Weekend will wrap up on Sunday, Aug. 25, in top-notch musical form when performer Charlie A’Court comes to Colebrook. One of Canada’s top blues/soul singers, A’Court will bring his show to the Tillotson Center on Carriage Lane in downtown Colebrook beginning at 7 p.m.
Charlie A’Court rocked this year’s East Coast Music Awards show in Halifax, Nova Scotia, last March, which is where the Great North Woods Committee for the Arts caught up with him. “We knew that he would be the perfect performer for Moose Festival weekend,” said Charlie Jordan, President of the GNWCA. “We booked him on the spot.”
A’Court says of his music, “In my world, music speaks louder than words.” And right up to his latest CD, “Triumph and Disaster,” A’Court speaks the language which crosses all borders and cultures: rockin’ blues. “You’ll want to get your tickets early for this show,” Jordan said. “Like our Moose Festival weekend headliner we had at the Tillotson Center last year, Ladies of the Canyon, we expect A’Court to leave town with a whole new legion of local fans.” Tickets are $15 and now on sale at Fiddleheads, 110 Main St., in Colebrook and at the door on the night of the concert.
And as an added feature at this concert, beginning at 5:30 p.m., the Tillotson Center will be having a barbeque just before the show for concertgoers who would like to purchase hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, soft drinks and more. All sales of the concessions will go to helping complete construction of the Tillotson Center, which has served as an anchor for over 25 shows hosted at the facility by the GNWCA since 2011. “Come and join the barbeque on the grounds of the Tillotson Center before the show and then head upstairs for a memorable concert,” Jordan suggests. “You’ll be helping two local organizations working to bring the arts to the North Country, the Great North Woods Committee for the Arts and the Tillotson Center.”
