Acoustic soul and Rhythm & Blues move to the forefront on Sunday, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m., when the duo Day Road officially kicks off the new GNWCA at the Country Club Concert Series in Colebrook.
“We’ve been getting a terrific reaction to our new series since we announced it last week,” said President Charlie Jordan of the Great North Woods Committee for the Arts.
The new series brings the GNWCA back to providing music at the Colebrook Country Club, a local venue where the regional performing arts organization has hosted numerous shows over the years. “It’s been over two years since we’ve presented a show at the Country Club and people have told us they missed us being there. Also, the Hinds family have always been gracious hosts.”

The opening night act, Day Road, consists of regional performers Hallie Day and Kyle Haley. Hallie, who lives in Pittsburg, has been wowing local audiences with her soulful interpretations of classic R&B songs, as well as original compositions. In 2012, Hallie appeared in Season 11 of the national TV program “American Idol.” Hallie has been singing as early as she can remember. She grew up watching her mother perform as a professional opera singer and teach voice lessons from their home. Hallie’s true passion is writing and creating songs. She wrote her first song when she was 11 years old and has been writing and performing ever since. Over the past 15 years, Hallie has sung professionally at various types of ceremonies and events. She and Kyle have been performing together for a year and a half. Kyle, who lives in Stratford, is by profession a primary grade teacher who has performed with groups around the state. His guitar accompaniment captures the soulful and whimsical intonations of Hallie’s vocals.
