Two of the top international guitarists presently on the touring circuit are coming to Colebrook for what promises to be a memorable show on Friday, Aug. 1, at 7 p.m.
Loren Barrigar and Mark Mazengarb have been wowing audiences worldwide with their music which draws from the traditions of of Les Paul, Chet Atkins and today’s Tommy Emmanuel. The duo are coming for their first appearance in northern New Hampshire when they appear at the Tillotson Center on Carriage Lane in downtown Colebrook.

The duo are coming for their first appearance in northern New Hampshire when they appear at the Tillotson Center on Carriage Lane in downtown Colebrook.
“We first saw them at the Ossipee Valley Music Festival in Maine, where they literally mesmerized the audience with their guitar work,” said Charlie Jordan, president of the Great North Woods Committee for the Arts, the organization bringing them to town. “If you play the guitar or even are just a fan of the guitar, you won’t want to miss this show–it will knock your socks off.”
Loren and Mark first met in 2005 when they spent a few days working with the great Tommy Emmanuel at a guitar camp. Mark, who hails from New Zealand, was a college kid, just completing his degree in classical guitar at the University of North Carolina; Loren, who lives in upstate New York, was already a seasoned performer, but it was his first serious look at acoustic guitar. After the workshop, Mark visited Loren and they spent some time picking guitar–and picking each other’s brains. Their music is influenced by Bluegrass, Jazz and Western music; their style of guitar playing is largely built upon the thumb-picking techniques pioneered by guitar greats Merle Travis, Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed, and their songs often feature Loren’s superb vocals and some beautiful harmonies from Mark.
